The people you love, a little closer.

Been a While is a gentle personal CRM for your friends. It tells you when it's been too long since you talked to someone, and remembers the little things, so you can be the friend you mean to be.

No account. No server. Everything stays on your phone.

How it works

Staying in touch, without the spreadsheet.

Three small habits, and the app keeps track of the rest.

  1. Step 1

    Add the people who matter

For each friend, choose how often you'd like to catch up, from every week to once a year. Add a birthday too, if you know it.

  2. Step 2

Log a catch-up in one tap

Called, texted or met up for coffee? Tap once and the clock resets. No forms, no typing.

  3. Step 3

    Get a gentle nudge

When it's been a while, or it's someone's birthday, you get a friendly reminder. Then it's up to you.

Made with care

Small things that add up to closer friendships.

Privacy

Your friendships aren't data.

Been a While is local-first on purpose. What you write about the people you love stays with you, on your phone, and nowhere else.

  • No account

Open the app and start. There's nothing to sign up for.

  • No server

Your friends, notes and history live in one file on your phone.

  • No tracking

No ads, no analytics, no contact uploads. This website doesn't track you either.

  • Backups you control

Included in your iCloud or Android backup, and you can export a plain file at any time.

Questions

When can I get it?

Been a While is coming soon to iPhone and Android.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There are no accounts at all. Everything you add stays on your phone, and nobody else, us included, can see it.

What happens if I lose or change my phone?

Your data is part of your phone's regular iCloud or Android backup, so it comes back when you restore. You can also export a backup file from the app and import it on another phone.

Does it read my contacts or messages?

No. You add the people you want to keep in touch with yourself, and you log catch-ups with one tap. The app never reads your calls, texts or address book.

Isn't it a bit strange to track your friends?

We think of it like writing birthdays on a calendar. Life gets busy and time slips by faster than we notice. A gentle reminder just helps you be the friend you already want to be.
